SAVOY HOTEL STRIKE

TREATMENT OF PICKETS ALLEGATIONS BY ORGANISER LONDON, Nov. 16. The organiser of the London branch of the National Union of General and Municipal Workers, Mr F. J. W. Lewis, M P said the police manhandled strike pickets trying to prevent tankers delivering oil to the Savoy Hotel early to-day. Mr Lewis said: “Policemen grabbed one girl by the scruff of her neck and threw her bodily. Another girl is in hospital.” He is asking the Home Secretary to inquire lmmediatThe police stated that truncheons were drawn, but not used. No arrest was made and no injuries were reported. A Savoy Hotel official said that about 100 police cordoned the area while six days’ supply of oil was delivered.
