Monthly Meeting
Mr A. R. Tait was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Electric Power Board yesterday morning. The secretary, Mr C. F. Jones, repoited that the sales of electricity for October amounted to £4429—an increase of £lO3 over the same month last year- f/"sales for the seven months ended October 31 amounted to £45,385 —-an increase of £BO6 for the same period last year. In the trading department cash sales and invoice charges amounted to £1927, compared with £2594. For the seven months ended October 31, invoice charges and cash sales amounted to_ £ 15,274, compared with £16,055 fof 1946. The 0 ance outstanding on hire-purchase accounts at the end of October was £3a63. With the posting of further debits to the cost of administration of power restuctions the recorded cost totalled £528 lbs 8d On the suggestion of the Local Government Loans Board it was agreed that the two proposed renewal loans next year be combined as one. It was pointed out that this would save duplication of pro cedure and that the loan could be raised in two instalments at the respective maturity dates of the two portions of the original loan.—lt was decided o make application for sanction-to -he raising o' thp loan as amended. The engineer, Mr»N. A. Davidson, reported that 1582 concrete poles had been

Mr Davidson reported that there had been an exceptional demand this year for small electric milking and shearing plants It seemed from this that dairy farming was on -the increase in the district. Mr Davidson was granted permission to attend the annual conference of the institution of Engineers at Dunedin from Fe T b h r e Uar uU grant of £5 5s was made to the North Otago Boy Scouts Association.
