THE NGAPARA-WESTON ROAD
Sir,—Both local motorists and travellers from all over the country apparently agree that this road, with its corrugations and potholes, has few equals anywhere. It seems that it has been the policy of the past council, and especially of its sitting member—who seldom has occasion to' .use "this road—to spend‘as little as possible on modem equipment to keep the road in proper repair while the years roll by awaiting a tar-sealed surface. Also judging by the decision of the past council, it is determined to follow the short-sighted policy of r.~ deviations and straight roads at Weston and probably Enfield. We long-distance ratepayers want no dangerous corners when the road is eventually sealed, with the consequent added cost for straightening. Wellgraded roads now and straight roads in the future are our need, and ratepayers should see that they are represented by a councillor who has a different policy to that of past members. —I am, etc., Straight Roads.
