Union an Innings Ahead

In the second day’s play of the second round of the senior competition, Oamaru B beat Kurow by seven wickets and nine runs; Union beat Albion by an innings and 29 runs; and in a close finish Waitaki beat Oamaru A by II runs. Oamaru B carried its first day’s total of 69 for five wickets to 160. Zimtnermann continued his 'strike to reach 80, but Waldron had added only three when he was dismissed for 23. Francis took three wickets for 46, and Neale two for 18. Kurow made 165 on the first innings, but were dismissed cheaply for 23, Burrows taking six for 8, and D. Hall, two for 6. Oamaru had no difficulty in obtaining the required runs, losing three wickets for 37. •

Albion made 91 in the first innings, and Union 227. In the second strike Albion made' 107. leaving Union with an innings and 11 runs margin. Forbes and Hutcheon shared the wickets for Union.
