PROFESSIONAL BOXING

WIN FOR AUSTRALIAN P.A. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 16. In a professional boxing contest ai Mataura on Saturday night, Jackie Marr (Victorian light heavy-weight champion) defeated CHIT Hanharr (New Zealand) on points after 10 rounds of fast' boxing. Marr scaled 12st 21b and Hanham list 61b. Marr scored a knock-down in the third round, but Hanham was on his feet again after a count of one. Marr won comfortably, but Hanham put up a great show against a clever boxer. It was the first open-air contest in Southland and attracted an attendance of about 2500. Marr will meet Darcy Hoffman at Mataura in three weeks time.
