INDIAN CRICKET TOURISTS MATCH AGAINST AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN Rec. 11 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 14. The Indian cricket tourists torday began a four-day match against an Australian eleven. After a good start, the middle batsmen failed, but then Kishenchand and Irani added 63 runs in an undefeated stand for the last wicket. At stumps, India had lost nine wickets for 292. The Australian team comprises players from five States, and includes a number of test possibilities. It is a very strong batting side and should pass the Indian total without difficulty. After losing Mankad at 11, Sarwate and Gulmahomed engaged in a second wicket partnership worth 70 runs in 66 minutes. Sarwate, who has a limited range of strokes, was brilliantly caught at the wicket. Gulmahomed and Hazare then added 80 for the third wicket. Gulmahomed played a fiiost dashing innings, his cover drives and pulls to leg being powerfully executed. Finally, after 136 minutes’ batting, he too was caught at the wicket. Hazare"was batting in his usual accomplished style when he was run out. Adhikari became Sagger’s third victim when he touched a ball outside the off stump. Amarnath and Rangnekar fell in quick order,, and at tea, India, after being two for 161. was seven for 184 — five wickets having fallen for 23 runs. Kishenchand batted neatly, and with Irani, defied six bowlers for 65 minutes in the last wicket stand.
