GREEK ATROCITIES
INTERVENTION BY BRITAIN IMMEDIATE INQUIRY ORDERED N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON. Nov. 14. Messages from Athens state that the British Afnbassador, Sir Clifford Norton, called on M. Tsaldaris and officially raised the question of alleged atrocities by the Greek Army and gendarmerie. British military authorities in Athens stated that they had repeatedly drawn the attention of the Greek authorities to the reported excesses In one case the withdrawal of the British military mision is said to have been threatened as a protest. Greek army authorities claim that in the past three years 312 Greek army officers and 2664 other ranks had been assassinated by guerrillas. The Greek Government has ordered an immediate inquiry into the British charges against Greek troops.
