FLUSH OF FEED
Excellent Growing Conditions Growing conditions in North Otago have been excellent this week and the recent showers and the warmer weather have brought about a flush of feed. Both pastures and crops are doing exceptionally well. Wheat: Not much enthusiasm has been shown by growers over the increased prices for wheat for the next two seasons. While the high prices for wool and meat remain, a much larger area in wheat cannot be anticipated. Poultry feeders are now commencing to draw on store supplies as their own supplies are becoming exhausted. New season’s crops are showing good promise. Oats: New season's crops are looking well but spot stocks with the exception of a few Algerians are exhausted and barely enough for retail purposes. The North Island demand is still unsatisfied. Potatoes: The increased prices for next season, based on the March-June price, are as follows:—Dakotas. Sutton’s Supreme, and King Edwards, £lO per ton f.0.b., sacks extra in addition; other varities £9 10s per ton f.0.b., sacks extra, in addition. Seeds: As anticipated, there has been a better inquiry for grass seeds, etc., for sowing with rape and fair deliveries have been made to the country. There are odd inquiries from exporters for lines of clover at comparatively low prices for the Continent, but growers in some cases are not prepared to meet this low competition. Prices for Montgomery have eased slightly during the week with very little inquiry. ;
