LAMBING FIGURES

NORTH ISLAND ESTIMATES P.A. WELLLINGTO Nov. 14. Departmental estimates placing the North Island lambings this season at the second highest on record were announced to-day by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Cullen, who added that, although the South Island estimates were not yet available, good results were expected there also. An official estimate for the North Island gave a lambing percentage of 92.47, as against 87.92 - last season. The estimated number of lambs born was 10,814,554, compared with 10,453,719 last season. , , Comparisons of the actual tailings against the estimates of lambing in past seasons showed the Department of Agriculture’s estimates were consistently on the conservative side. It was therefore hoped that this season’s tailings for the North Island would reach 11,000,000.
