RED CROSS NOTES

The annual Red Cross service was held at First Church on the evening of Remembrance Sunday. Members of the executive, lady superintendents, V.A.D.’s, transport members, guild workers, staff and patients from Montecillo Home and members of the Junior Red Cross attended, The V.A.D. choir, conducted by Mr James Clark, sang Bach’s "My Heart Ever Faithful ” and “ Christmas Blessing, by Anderson, and Elizabeth Armstrong read the lesson. The Rev. W. Allen Stevely spoke of sympathy, service and sacrifice of the Red Cross, and emphasised the good work of the society in times of Pe The V.A.D.’s will present their fourth concert to date on Tuesday night, the proceeds being for voluntary aid funds The V.A.D.’s have secured the help of Valda McCracken, Geoffrey de Lautour, Kay Mutimer. a group from the Technical School Orchestra, and Lily Stevens, who will give a half-hour entertainment of children’s ballet. The V.A.D. choir will be heard in several numbers, and the V.A.D.’s will take part in a one-act comedy. . ~ . The guild, which has done excellent work throughout the year, has closed until next February. On Monday evening, the Anderson s Bay Sub-centre Detachment held a trump whist evening in St. Michael s Hall when over £9 was raised for V.A. funds. The prize-winners were Miss D. O. Ramsay and Mr H. Whitehead.
