Vice-Regal Last evening their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Freyberg, accompanied by members of their stall, left Wellington by the steamer express for the South Island.
Dr H D. Skinner left by the through express yesterday on his way to New Pl Mes°srs h j. M. Patterson, J. H. Meek and M. S. Myers left by air yesterday for Auckland where they will be joined later bv Mr F. M. Halstead. At the meting of the Otago Land Board this week members expressed regret at the impending resignation of Mr C. J. Inder the Crown tenants’ representative on the board, and a resolution was carried unanimously placing on record high appreciation of his services, both as a nominated member and as the elected Crown tenants’ representative. His wide and intimate knowledge of farming conditions in Otago, and his sound judgment had caused his opinions to be treated with respect. Members regretted the necessity for his retirement and wished him a speedy recovery in health. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr Inder was met by members of the board and a token of esteem was handed to him by the chairman, Mr W. E. Shaw.
