QUARTER SHARE
PRIZE OF £50,000
KAIKOURA NEWS AGENT’S FORTUNE
Mr Percy Morris, a newsagent, of Kaikoura, has won a prize of £12,500 in an overseas lottery on the Melbourne Cup. He held a ticket for a quarter share of the £50,000 prize. Mr Morris bought a series of six tickets and the winning number was the second in the run. Instead of using his name as he usually does, Mr Morris, who has been buying tickets for a number of years, went under the initials of “P. M.” His only previous success has been a win of £5. Looking through the list, Mr Moms found that the number of one of his tickets corresponded with that of the prize, but unable to believe his good fortune, he called in another man to check his finding. This evening he said that he had no plans about spending the money and would not have any until he received it. He intends to carry on business at Kaikoura as usual.
