SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS

The bi-monthly meeting of the Sunday School Teachers’ Association on Saturday was presided over by Mr Bruce C. Adam, who outlined the changed plans which had been decided on by the executive for the children's centennial picnic. The action of the executive in changing the venue of the picnic was agreed to. Mr Adam then introduced Miss Ford who is at present advisory specialist for teacher training. Miss Ford spoke briefly on what plans had been made and how it was hoped to carry them out as far as teacher-training was concerned. After the close of the general meeting some 60 teachers, accompanied by interested friends visited the Synagogue to hear part of the Jewish ritual, and learn something of the worship and work of that congregation. The visitors were welcomed by Mr Hirst and Mr Faigan. and as the service proceeded Mr Faigan explained to those present the significance and meaning of the prayers and readings used. After the worship period, an opportunity was given everyone to see the Books of the Law as well as other sig» nificant appurtenances pertaining to the different services Thanks were expressed by the visitors for the friendly manner in which they had been welcomed and for the information so freely given.
