SALARY INCREASES
CONSIDERATION SOUGHT FOR NURSES P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 12. “ Since September the Court of Arbitration has. issued an order, the general effect of which is that the vast majority of workers received an increase of 10s a week. Are nurses to be given that same consideration, or are they once again to be left behind?” asked Mrs M. Gilmer, a member of the Wellington Hospitable Board, in an interview to-day. Mrs Gilmer said a recent statement by the Hospital Board Association of New Zealand regarding the question of nurses’ salaries and general conditions “ conveyed nothing more than vague generalities ” and it was full-time that nurses, girls who were thinking of taking up the profession and their parents were given some facts.
