ANOTHER RECORD
SALVATION ARMY SELF-DENIAL APPEAL P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 11. The Salvation Army’s annual selfdenial appeal again met with a record response this year. The Dominion total was £37,165, nearly £SOO more than last year. The Wellington total was £12,172, which is £235 more than last year. The rhoney is used in many branches of the Army’s activities, but specially for missionary work. Some of it is also spent on officer training. In common with other organisations, the Salvation Army had its man-power problems during the war; but young people are now offering themselves for full-time work in its ranks in increasing numbers. Twenty-two men and women at present in training in Wellington will complete their 10 months’ course at the end of this month and will be commissioned by Commissioner R. M. Astbury.
