SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The first interclub swimming carnival of the season will be held at the Municipal Baths to-night, under the auspices of the Otago Centre. Large entries have been received, and particular interest will attach to the performance of Miss Ngaire Lane, the New Zealand women's backstroke champion and record holder, who is to undergo an Olympic trial shortly. Miss Betty Casey, formerly of Wellington, the New Zealand triple freestyle champion, will be competing in a number of events, and other national champions taking part include the brilliant divers Jack Stewart and Miss Mayzod Reid, and the medley titleholder, W. J. Jarvis. A water polo match will he played.
