HOSPITAL BATHS

WIDER USE ADVOCATED SESSIONS FOR CRIPPLED j PERSONS 1 “I have often been asked what my views are on the hospital baths,” said Miss Louise Roberts, Citizen candidate for the Otago Hospital Board, at Morningto'n last' night. “ These baths were always one of my dreams and I worked for them for 21 years. And yet I have never entered into the promised land nor had a swim in them. They are, however, a wonderful asset for the patients. “I do feel, however, that there are others who should be allowed the use of the baths,” Miss Roberts said. “I think the Crippled Children Society should be allowed to organise evenings for crippled people who enjoy swimming and yet do not like going to public baths. I hope that some evenings can be arranged for these people. I would like to see the nurses given the use of the baths. Because of the hours they work nurses miss a lot, and I am disappointed the baths have never been thrown open to them. Another section I would like to see given the use of the baths is the medical students. I know how hard they work and how they deserve to have the use of the baths. I am sorry the board has seen otherwise,” Miss Roberts added.
