BIRCH STREET WHARF SHIPMENT FROM BRITAIN Information received about the supply of cranes for the Birch street wharf was given a meeting of the Otago Harbour Board last night by the secretary, Mr J. Renton. Material for the first crane would be, shipped by the Fort St. John, due to leave London on November 22, Mr Renton said, while material for the second crane would be shipped by the Ashburton, set down to leave Liverpool on November 18. The Fort St. John would call at Wellington and Lyttelton before reaching Dunedin in the New Year, while the Ashburton would call only at Lyttelton before Dunedin, where she should arrive late in December. “ It seems that the second crane will reach Dundin before the first.” the secretary added. The chairman, Mr W. R. Glarke, observed that members would have no complaint to make about that.
