The Waihemo Cricket Sub-association’s competitions were commenced on Saturday. Waikouaiti A 40 (P. Mackie 12) defeated Waikouaiti B 30 (Kerr seven for 18 and G. Gordon three for 7; B. Petherick 9).
Palmerston Town beat Dunback at Palmerston by a margin of 75 runs. Dunback 22 (D. McLelland seven for 8). Palmerston Town 97 (Robertson 33, T. R. Smith 14, Vinnecombe 12; Stevenson four for 30, Stanley two for 18, R. Glover two for 17). ■ The remainder of the first-round draw is:—November 15: Waikouaiti A v. Dunback, at Dunback; Palmerston B v. Waikouaiti B, at Waikouaiti; • Palmerston A, a bye. November 22: Palmerston A v. Palmerston B, at Palmerston; Waikouaiti B v.
