PREPARATION OF NEW GREEN PLANS. AND ESTIMATES APPROVED At a meeting oC members of the Oamaru R.S.A. Bowling Club on Monday night, it was decided to call the club the Oamaru Services’ Bowling Club, and it was agreed in principle that membership should not be confined solely to exservicemen who had served overseas. The vice-president, Mr J. D. t'Orbes, who was in the chair, extended a welcome to Messrs K. A. Ballinger (borough engineer) and E. W. Grenfell (works supervisor). who were present at the meeting by invitation. The secretary reported that Mr A. H. Nordmeyer had informed him that validating legislation was not necessary, as the council had power under the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act to lease a reserve for recreation purposes at a peppercorn rental for a term of 21 years, with right of renewal. The work of preparation of the green could therefore, proceed without delay. Mr Ballinger produced his plans of the site, and explained the lay-out of the green to members Mr Ballingers estimates for excavation, cultivation, and sowing down, drainage, fences, drives, and parking strips, tools, etc., were set down at £1540, with an approximate cost of pavilion, with locker room, and tool shed etc., to be built at a later date, at £lsoo—a total of £3040. The plans and estimates were approved, and Mr Ballinger was accorded a vote of thanks. The secretary reported that Mr W. J.
