PETROL RATIONING
A MATTER OF FINANCE VIEW OF MOTOR TRADE iPer United Press Association) WELLINGTON. Oct. 8. Expressing the opinion that the Question of the rationing of octroi in New Zealand was .solely concerned with finance, Mr C. Edmond oresident of the New Zealand Motor Trade Federation, issued a statement 10-dav renlving to the contention made in the House on Friday by Mr E. P. Meachen, that rationing was necessitated through conditions arising from the war. Mr Edmond states that if Mr Meachen pursued the matter of petrol for use for aeroplanes in New Zealand, he would find that it had no vital bearing on the rationing of petrol; and he adds that the Motor Trade Federation would be the last to suggest that any action should be taken that would in any way restrict the training of our Air Force.
