ROAD FATALITY
HIT-AND-RUN CHARGE MOTORIST TO STAND TRIAL (Per United Press Association) WHANGAREI, Oct. 8. John Edwin Guy, a builder, was yesterday committed for trial in the Supreme Court on three charges of failure to stop after an accident, failure to ascertain if any damage had been done, and failure to render assistance. This was a sequel to an accident in the early hours of June 1, when Mrs Florence Ellen Anderson was knocked down by a motor car while walking home from a dance at Kaikohe. She received fatal injuries. Witnesses declared that a truck similar to that driven by the accused passed them when they were a short distance from where the injured woman was found. The accused, in a statement to the police which he did not sign, said he drove the truck through Kaikohe en route to Whangarei, but did not see or strike anyone on the road. The case was heard at Kaikohe.
