The annual report disclosed that the year ended with a membership of 39. an increase Of five during the year, and that applications pending would shortly bring the branch membership to 50. The present total membership of the institute was 387, an increase of 60 during the year, the number’ of members in private practice being 175, or approximately 45 per cent. Although,at first sight the membership of the Otago branch appeared low, when the relative population in the different centres was taken into account the proportion was quite satisfactory. During the year Mr R. C. T. Evans gave an interesting and instructive address on " Earlv Dunedin," and illustrated his lecture by projecting a particularly fine collection of early photographs of the city. Mr E. C. Reynolds, at the next meeting, gave an interesting talk on “ Early Valuations 'in Dunedin.” The following meeting was occuoied by a talk by Mr J. A. Wilson, who outlined the methods and procedure adopted by the Valuation Department when undertaking the revaluation of a district. These meetings were well attended, and the keen interest displayed by members in this phase of the branch activities should result in the presentation of some interesting papers in the ensuing year.
