EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS

TWO FELT IN WELLINGTON ‘Special ro Daily Times) WELLINGTON. Oct. 7. An earthquake was felt in Wellington about 1.30 p.m. to-day. There appeared to be two shocks, with a slight interval between them. At the Dominion Observatory the seismological instruments recorded a 40-second interval; between the two shakes, which were part of the •same earthquake. The origin of the earthquake was probably deep-seated, about 240 miles distant from Wellington, and in that case the shake would probably be felt over a wide area.
