The September meeting of the Hawea Flat branch was presided over by Mrs Scott. The competitions resulted: Economical fruit cake —Mrs L. Morris 1, Mrs Allison 2; bloom—-Mrs T. Gillespie 1, Mrs Gray 2. An interesting talk was given by Mr F. Barltrop on “The Psychology of the Child.” The hostesses were Mrs T. Gillespie and Miss Jopp,

-V •¥ * Mrs McHaffie presided at. the meeting of the Clinton branch, which was held at the residence of Mrs C. Bagrie on Thursday. A presentation was made to each of the two new babies present. The sum of 15s was'sent to the Patriotic Society for Christmas parcels, and a hamper was also sent to the Services Welcome Club. Mrs W. I. Clarke gave a cooking demonstration. Miss McPherson and Miss Brown were the hostesses.

The monthly meeting of the Warrington branch was held on Wednesday last. Mrs White presiding. The roll call was “The household duty I most dislike.” Mrs Lee (member of the Otago Executive Council) gave a talk op the last Executive meeting of the W.D.F.U. A competition was won by Mrs White.

The October meeting of the Omakau branch, held at the home of Mrs D. R. Nevill, was presided over by Mrs Scorgie. Donations to the Fighter Plane Fund amounted to £lO 2s. The afternoon was spent in knitting articles for the minesweepers. Mrs D. R. Nevill and Mrs W. Wilson were the hostesses.

The Momona branch held its meeting on Wednesday last, when Miss Butt nresided. The roll call was “A Scottish joke.” A sales table was held in aid of the Aeroplane Fund. The competitions resulted: Butt and Miss N. Watson (equal) 1. Mrs J. McCulloch 3; apple square— Mrs Rusbatch and Mrs A. Eckhold (equal) 1, Miss N. Watson 3; tub frock —Mrs A. Eckhold 1. Miss N. Watson 2, Mrs Butt and Mrs McCulloch (equal) 3; Spring onion—N. Watson 1. Mrs Brain 2, Mrs J. McCulloch 3; somethinp made out of an old felt hat —Miss N. Watson 1. Mrs A. Eckhold 2. Mrs Butt 3. The hostesses were Mrs A. Eckhold and Miss N. Watson.
