Mr P. Neilson, M.P., and Mr J. W. Munro, M.P.. returned by Saturday’s express from Wellington. Mr J. K. Goodley, railway bus manager in Dunedin, who has been transferred to a similar position in Wellington. went north by the through express yesterday. The Minister of Defence, Mr P. Jones, announced on Saturday that, during the absence of Major-general Sir John Duigan from New Zealand as delegate to the Empire Economic Conference in Delhi, the New Zealand forces will be commanded by Sir Andrew Russell, who was recently appointed Inspectorgeneral of the New Zealand forces. A cable message from London slates that Trinity, the famous Cambridge University College, will have ap illustrious historian and a man of letters as its new master in Professor N. M Trevlyan, who has been Regius Professor of Modern History at Cambridge since 1927. The appointment is in succession to the late Sir J. J. Thomson. Passengers by the northbound plane on Saturday were Mr C. R. Edmond, Dr G. P. Fizgerald and Mr C. J. Thelts for Christchurch, and Mr R. Quin, Mrs R. Quin, Mr D. C. McCabe and Mr C. R. Hedges for Wellington.
