R.A.F. BOMBERS
OPERATIONS HAMPERED BAD WEATHER OVER ENEMY AREAS LONDON, Oct. 5. (Received Oct. 6, at 9.10 p.m.)^ Because of the continuance of iJad weather over enemy territory, R.A.F. bombers did not carry out any operations last night. Though unfavourable weather restricted the daylight activities of our bombers on Thursday, attacks were made, says an Air Ministry communique, on shipping off Dunkirk, on Rotterdam Harbour, barge concentrations at Heusden, and industrial plant near Wesel. Other aircraft attacked railway communications and oil storage depots near Cherbourg. All the R.A.F. aircraft returned safely. Ships Bombed on Norwegian Coast An Admiralty communique says further damage was inflicted on enemy shipping by aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm operating over the coast of Norway. Skua aeroplanes attacked enemy supply ships of 4000 or 5000 tons which were lying alongside the jetty at Haugesund. Hits were obtained with bombs, and a ship was left heavilv on fire in both forward and after holds. In Bjibrne Fiord, Skuas attacked an enemy supply ship of about 2000 tons and bombs were seen to hit the ship, which was considered sunk. The British aircraft were subsequently attacked by a superior force of enemy fighters. One of the Skuas is missing.
