DAILY INTERCESSION

Hold not Thy peace, O God of my praise. For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have they opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They compassed me about with words of hatred. . . . But I give myself unto prayer (Psalm cix: 1-4). Almighty God, Who knowest our hearts and minds, we would dare to claim before Thee that we hated war and did not desire it, that under the compulsion of a good conscience we have placed ourselves in the way of a dread menace to all that is true and right and good. Yet we pray that Thou wilt purify our motives, delivering us from bitterness, hypocrisy, and self-seeking, that we may strive to create a > world of true brotherhood under Thee, the Father of all mankind. May we lift up our faces with honour: through Jesus Christ our Lord.
