CUCKOO LISTENING Unless one has been initiated into the mysteries of cuckoo listening, it is difficult to understand the fascination of the game. If it has a drawback, it is that, while on the alert for cuckoos, one is apt to miss the last. tram. And, while carefully avoiding any comment which might wound the sensitive cuckoo-listener, one is bound to admit that there are people who, by the misdirection of effort, allow the main chance to go by. Cuckoo listening! All nonsense. Still, that’s something that is relished now and then by the wisest men, and there’ll be enough nonsense and gaiety, colour and music associated with Friday evening’s all-in procession to sink a German battleship. Forget about cuckoos in the meantime—think of next Friday evening's procession, and be in town.
