NAVY LEAGUE NOTES
During the last week more groups in Otago have intimated their wish to help with work for the men of the mine- \ sweepers. | Word has been re- ' eeived from headquarters in Wellington that the case of comforts for New iiiincivvveepers sent a short time ago has arrived .safely, and the articles arc being distributed to the various ships. In addition to the league's existing work for the minesweepers, it has been asked by the central office to supply SO pairs of socks and 25 pullovers per month for men going overseas, etc. The Knitted Comforts Committee recognises that many of its helpers and supporters will become very busy during the summer months, and will not be" able to do so much knitting. It wishes to thank them for their valuable help and co-operation, and ask them just to keep some knitting " by them," and let the committee have things as and when they are finished, even if that should not be till after Christmas. All those who have given so freely of their time, energy, and gifts may like to know that the commanding officer of the minesweeping fleet has sent a most appreciative message of thanks to the Otago branch of the Navy League, and " would like to bring his fleet down here to see us all!"
