(Received Oct. 4, at ?• a.m.) The Berlin radio stated that Free French forces are co-operating with British warships cruising in the vicinity of Madagascar against which they are preparing an assault, ''~ncerning which there is no confirmation in London. NO CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE MR GANDHI’S DECLARATION BOMBAY,' Oct. 3. (Received Oct. 4, at 2 a.m.) Mr Gandhi, in a statement to Congress on the future course of action, said: “ There won’t be civil disobedience, direct or indirect.” He urged his followers patiently to await the decision of the Congress Executive at a meeting at Wardha on October 11. ' RUSSIAN YOUTHS CALLED UP STATE LABOUR RESERVE MOSCOW, Oct. 3. (Received Oct. 4, at 2 a.m.) A decree calls up youths throughout Russia aged 14 to 17 to serve in the State Labour Reserve. They will be mobilised for four years’ work in mines and factories. 1 Military service will be suspended during industrial conscription. The decree points out that- the measure is necessary to increase Russia’s productive capacity. ADVANCING TOWARDS HANOI JAPANESE SCISSORS MOVEMENT CHUNGKING, Oct. 3. (Received Oct. 4, at 2 a.m.) The Japanese forces which entered Indo-China overland from China and by the sea at Haiphong are at present advancing in a scissors movement directly towards Hanoi.
