LORD MAYOR’S FUND

APPEAL IN AUSTRALIA PARADE THROUGH SYDNEY SYDNEY, Oct. 3. . About 6500 A.I.F. troops and 100 Air Force men will march through the city to-morrow when the “Australia Day ” appeal for the Lord Mayor’s fund will be held. An official request to citizens not to give beer or other gifts to members of the A.1.F.. has been issued by eastern command headquarters. Officers declined to say whether ,> oeople who give beer to troops will be prosecuted and fined, as hap-’ oened on a similar occasion in New Zealand. , It is learned, however, that no instructions for such actios have been given in the eastern coiamand.
