FINE AND MILDER Forecast for Otago.— The following official weather forecast for Otago, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday _ by . the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair to fine and milder. Seas moderate. Dominion Forecast. —A weak depression is located north of the North Island; and an anti-cyclone extends from New South Wales on to southern New Zealand, the highest pressures being found in the south Tasman Sea. Weather: Scattered showers in the far north and in the Gisborne-East Cape area. Elsewhere fair to fine, though with morning low cloud or fog in eastern districts. Conditions will be cold at night, with widespread light frosts, but day temperatures will be milder. Weather in Dunedin.— There was again a moderate to fresh south-west wind yesterday with passing clouds in the morning but uninterrupted sunshine during the afternoon. Temperatures were cool to mild, the maximum being 57 degrees. The barometer rose sharply to 30.32 inches (1027 millibars) at midnight. Barometer, inches and millibars: 8 a.m., 30.18 (1022); noon, 30.17 (1022); 6 p.m.. 30.25 (1024); midnight, 30.32 (1027). Thermometer: 8 am., 49 degrees; noon, 54 degrees; 6 p.m., 50 degrees; midnight, 48 degrees. Maximum, 57 degrees; minimum, 46 degrees.
