ABSORBING MYSTERY AT REGENT Romance In a great hospital, baffling mystery In a beautiful girl’s terror, and thrills of amateur . detective work are blended in “ The Secret of Dr Kildare," a scientific detective romance which comes to-day to the Regent Theatre, with Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore. The story deals with a mental mystery, Ayres, as Dr Jimmy Kildare, is called on to diagnose the mental state of beautiful Helen Gilbert. Emptying detective methods, he traces her terror to the suggestions of a fanatical nurse who insists she has a brain tumor and takes her to a quack doctor (Grant Mitchell). The dramatic denouement Is Ayres's cure of the girl’s blindness under the guidance of Lionel Barrymore, as the veteran Dr Gillespie, by practical mental suggestion. Based on the popular story by Max Brand, the picture shows many interesting modern medical discoveries as sidelines to the central plot. Barrymore, demonstrates the use of Prostygmin In a strange case of paralysis, a seeming miracle, in one dramatic highlight. A scientific apparatus, one of the latest miracles of science, Is seen on the screen for the first time.
