GIFTS FOR SOLDIERS LETTER OF APPRECIATION The Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) has received from Chaplain Leslie D, C. Groves, who is attached to the 11th New Zealand Forestry Company. “ somewhere in Britain.” a letter of thanks for the gifts of comforts and goods which have been forwarded by the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council. All the goods arrived in excellent condition, wrote Chaplain Groves, and the troops of the company, who shared in the general distribution of the gifts, were very appreciative. In a recent list of donations to the Otago Patriotic Fund published in the Otago Daily Times a contribution of £5 12s 6d was credited to the Waikoikoi Basketball Club. The sum represented the proceeds of the W.aikoikoi Young People’s ball.
