FINE BUT COLD Forecast for Otago.— The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds. Weather fair to fine although cold. Seas moderate, with a decreasing southerly swell. Dominion Forecast. —An anti-cyclone centred over Tasmania extends across the Tasman Sea on to southern New Zealand. A deep' depression is located near the Chatham Islands. Weather changeable over the Auckland province and' east of the main ranges of the North Island, with scattered showers. A few coastal showers also in the eastern districts of the South Island, but conditions otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures cold, with hard frosts at night in sheltered positions. Weather in Dunedin.— The sky was overcast yesterday,' the sun breaking through for only short intervals, and a ' fresh south-west wind prevailed. Temperatures were generally cool, the maximum being 53 degrees. The barometer was rising at midnight at 30110 inches (1019 millibars). Barometer, inches and millibars: 8 a.m.. 29.92. (1013); noon. 29.95 (1014): 6 p.m;. 30.00 (1016); midnight, 30.10 (1019), • Thermometer: 8 a.m.. 42 degrees; noon. 51 degrees; 6 p.m., ’SO degrees: midnight, 49 degrees. Maximum, 53 degrees; minimum, 40 degrees. Rainfall for 24 hours ended midnight yesterday—nil. Sunshine for 24 hours ended midnight yesterday: Before noon, 25min; after noon, 45min; total, Ihr lOmin.
