MUNICIPAL HOUSING
STATISTICAL INFORMATION SCHEME SINCE ITS INCEPTION The. matter of the continuation of the municipal housing scheme beyond the allocation of £300,000 was before the Finance Committee during the year, states the annual. report compiled by the town clerk for the past year, following advice from the State Advances Corporation to the effect that a term of 25 years would be the maximum for any further loans granted at 3 per cent, for housing purposes. As it was not possible to continue lending on a 30-year term the committee was of the opinion that the added annual charges would make the scheme too costly, and oh the- outbreak of the war it was decided to take no action meantime in the direction of continuing the scheme.-’ . •—' ' : The statistical information in respect of the scheme from its inception is as follows: > *; , Loan moneys raised, £300,000. Applications approved, 260. 'I , Value of approved applications, £333,711. r- ■ ■. . Deposits of applicants, £33,570. The value of the houses ranged from upder £ 1000 to. £ 1750, and the deposits from £SO up to between £BOI and £9OO .
