NEW ZEALAND POTATOES ANOTHER SHIPMENT ARRIVES SYDNEY, Oct. 2. '(Received Oct. 3, at 1 a.m.) With the arrival of only 5600 sacks of Whiteskin potatoes from New Zealand to-day the prices of that variety were advanced 10s to £l3 10s a ton. Dakota Reds, of which 11,700 bags were received, were fixed at £l2. The demand for New Zealand potatoes is expected to be very keen owing to the marked shortage of Tasmanian shipments. COAL MINERS RESTIVE ANOTHER HOLD-UP THREATENED SYDNEY, Oct; 2. (Received Oct. 3, at 1 a.m.) Another coal hold up. on this occasion at south coast collieries, and affecting over 3000 men, began today. The miners are seeking the suspension of the new award, which, according to the miners, takes away their seniority rights, which they have enjoyed for 40 years, and giving the owners the right to “ hire or fire ” irrespective of seniority. The men also object4o the new provisions governing work on coalcutting machines. A compulsory conference has been convened for Friday.
