FOOD WASTAGE
ro THE' EDITOR
Sir, —Truly I could emulate Queen Victoria and say I am “not amused” at the result of 4ZB’s effort on Tuesday to entertain the public at a community sing. The money is to provide for our men who come back from the war. I wonder if those who took part in the farce of cooking have ever known what want is, What a shame to waste food as they did. and surely throwing it at each other on the stage is nothing more ndr less than sheer buffoonery. As much money as can be raised is being collected, and yet the idea of wit of a number of would-be comedians is to waste food that costs good money. Judged bv the remarks from several of the audience thee will be a lot less at the rest of the 4ZB sings if that is the tvpe of entertainment that is to be offered. “Waste not. want not” should be one of our slogans at present, and it is to be hoped in the months that lie ahead that New Zealand will not be rationed and worried with food problems. If she is. I trust that last Tuesday’s entertainers will go hungry. —I am. etc.. Definitely Not Amused. Balclutha.
