SWISS SOCIALISTS

The Swiss Socialist Party, the last active Socialist organisation in Western Europe, gave up a long politicalfight recently and accepted a working agreement with the country’s three leading Conservative parties in the interest of national unity. Robert Grimm, Swiss Socialist leader, declared that “only the will of strong union and resistance to all outside influences can maintain Swiss independence in these hard times.” The party is the largest in the Swiss National Council, or Lower House of Parliament.
