CAR CONVERSION

THREE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. Three months, with hard labour, was the penalty imposed by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M. on a soldier, Robert Harold Russell, aged 19, for unlawful conversion of a car. , The police stated that the accused missed the last train to Trentham on Saturday night, and took the car from the Hotel Waterloo. The owner of the car claimed that three gallons of petrol had been used and the car had travelled at least 120 miles. The car was damaged to the extent of approximatelv £25. Mr Stout said the accused, who was before the court in Christchurch a week ago for a similar offence, had had a warning.
