JOINT COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the Joint Committee, Red Cress and St. John, held yesterday, was presided over by Mr A. N. Haggitt. The R.S.A. wrote regardin” an allowance of tobacco for an Otago ex-service man admitted to Waipiata Sanatorium —lt was resolved that an allowance should be made. ■ The R.S.A. also communicated regarding admission of an ex-serviceman to the Montecillo Home.-—The secretary reported that this man would be in the public hospital for a term for observation, and the committee would have a report from the medical officer in due course—Noted and approved A letter was received from the Trustees, Executors Company advising that under the will v the late Mrs M, A. Turton a legacy £IOO would be paid out of the estate for the benefit of the Mcntecillo Home.—Members received this intimation with deep gratitude Mesdames Ritchie, Batchelor, and Neill furnished satisfactory reports for the hospital visitors Ther< had been a slight diminution in the number of soldier patients in residence. There were 26 men at Dunedin Hospital. 5 a* Wakari, and 6 at Talboys. Mr Haggitt referred to a special c. ,e that was receiving the attention of the R.S.A Upon receipt of further advice from the association they would be able to determine if the case was one for the Home. —Noted. Matron Douglass reported matters going along smoothly at Montecillo Two patients had been discharged, and three readmitted from Dunedin Hospital. There were 21 men in the Heme. Miss Graham reported that the Home Committee had considered holding the annual garden fete on the first Saturday in November at the Montecillo Home grounds.—lt was resolved that the fete should be held, and the date should be November 2. if it was suitable.
