ELECTRICAL TRADE

SOUTHLAND APPRENTICESHIP ORDER The Industrial Magistrate (Mr J. A. Gilmour) has issued an apprenticeship order covering the Southland Electrical Trades. In a memorandum to the order the magistrate states that the only matter In dispute related, to the question of proportion, all the other provisions having been agreed upon by the Apprenticeship Committee. After consideration of the written submissions of the parties he had come to the conclusion that the ratio provided for in the expired apprenticeship order should remain unaltered. The rates of remuneration prescribed by the order were agreed to by the Apprenticeship Committee before the promulgation of the General Order of the court, dated August 9, 1940, under the Rates of Wages Emergency Regulations, 1940, and a provision had accordingly been inserted giving effect to that order.
