PACT SIGNED
AXIS AND JAPAN BERLIN ANNOUNCEMENT MUTUAL AID PROVISION AIMED AT NEUTRAL NATION (By Wireless) LONDON. Sept. 27. (Received Sept. 27, at 11.30 p.m.) The German radio has announced that Italy, Germany and Japan have signed a 10 years’ military, political and economic pact. Japan will recognise the leadership of Germany and Italy in Europe, and Italy and Ger-. many will recognise the leadership of Japan in Asia. Each will give assistance to the other if attacked by a Power not at present engaged in the wars in Europe or China. This is taken to mean that Japan will not come into the war between the Axis Powers and Britain, while Germany and Italy will not become involved in the struggle in China. Count Ciano, the Italian Foreign Minister, arrived at the bomb-scarred Tempelhof aerodrome at Berlin and was met by Herr von Ribbontrop. He is evi--dsntly visiting Berlin to sign the pact, which was earlier anmvunced by Germany to be of “ great importance.”
