NOTES A golden wedding of interest to Chess players was celebrated on Tuesday last, the fortunate couple being Mr and Mrs T. M. Gillies. Mr Gillies has been a member of the Otago Chess Club since its very early days and has filled the position of president, as well as having served on committee for many years. In more recent times he has acted as umpire for the telegraph matches. We would like to add our congratulations to the many already received by Mr and Mrs Gillies.
