ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK

Animal Welfare Week will be celebrated from September 29 to October 6. The object of the week will be to encourage everyone to.take an interest in the welfare of animals and birds. Headmasters of all schools have been written to, asking them to address their children on this subject, and an essay ;

competition has been arranged for children under 10 years, children 10 to 14, and children over 14. and substantial prizes are being offered. The entries for the competition will close with “Dot” of the Daily Times, on October 7. Ministers of all congregations and superintendents of Sunday Schools have also been requested to address the children on either of the Sundays in Animal Welfare Week. Parents have also been requested to 'instil in the minds of their children the necessity of at all times being kind to animals. 1
