A BRAVE ACT
MAN RESCUED FROM RIVER FALL FROM BRIDGE (Per United Press Association) HAMILTON. Sept. 27. Only the prompt action of a passerby in jumping into the river fully clothed saved a Hamilton borough employee, L. Reid, aged 35, a married man, of Maeroa, from being drowned this morning. Reid was engaged in painting the traffic bridge, when he overbalanced and fell from a height of 50ft. He was unable to swim, and was half unconscious as a result of the fall.
Reid's plight was noticed by J. D. Perrer, who was cycling over the bridge. Racing down to the bank and plunging in, he reached Reid 200 yards downstream. Both men were exhausted on. reaching the bank after being assisted in by a lifeline. Reid Buffered only from shock.
