RAID ON ITALIAN BASE HAVOC AMONG SHIPPING (By Wireless) DAVENTRY, Sept. 27. Aerial photographs of the R.A.F. raids on the Italian base at Bengasi show the havoc that has been caused among shipping. The photographs show smoke pouring from one of the largest ships in the harbour; a destroyer is shown sinking, with only its superstructure above water, while another large ship is on fire. A mass of oil can be seen nouring from a tanker which is partly sunk, and oil is also shown oozing from other vessels. * BUILDING A NEW JAPAN MANAGERS APPOINTED TOKIO, Sept. 27. (Received Sept. 28, at 2 a.m.) The Cabinet announced the appointment of 10 permanent managers for the establishment of a new national structure, including the Axis-minded Siego Nakano, Colonel Kingoro Hashimoto, and the Domei’s President, Inosuke Furuno. Count Yoriyasu Arima, Prince Konoye’s friend, was appointed directorgeneral. INTERNED GERMANS BATCH REACH AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Sept. 27. (Received Sept. 28, at 2 a.m.) Having travelled in comparative luxury, the second batch of German internees arrived here under military escort from England, and have been entrained to an inland internment camp for the duration of the war. The internees included a number of women and babies, all of whom were in good health and spirits. They gave no trouble on the trip.
