PERSONAL

Mr A E. Ansell was a passenger for Christchurch by the mid-day express yesterday. Mr F J- Williams returned to Dunedin by the through express yesterday afternoon. Able-seaman T. R. Roydhouse left by the north express on Tuesday on active service. Mr C. H. Crombie. manager of the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company, returned to Christchurch by the midday express yesterday. Captain F. E. Tether, marine superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, left on his return to Wellington by the through express yesterday.

Messrs H L Gibson and W. H. Mackenzie loft for Christchurch by the Hi rough express yesterday to attend a meeting of ‘he Group Travel Association.

Passengers who left by plane for the north yesterday were Mr H. D. Kerr. Mr G.’W. Bate. Miss M. Munro, Miss M. Drinkwater. and Mr J. S. Langford for Chrfistchurch, Mrs E. Poppelwell and Mr A W Rawley for Wellington. The following passengers arrived from the north: Mrs M. Gorringe and Mr W. Green from Wellington, Mr A. C. Wilson. Mr A. E. Didham. Mr L Dykes. Mr H. H Dobie, and Mr A- J. Pascoe from Christchurch.

Flying Officer B J. G. Carbary, wh o left 'Auckland in April. 1937, to join the Royal Air Force, and has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, is the eldest son of the late Mrs A, D.
