TERRITORIAL TRAINING
POSITION OF STUDENTS INSTRUCTIONS TO REGISTRAR The University of Otago has received the following statement made by the Minister of Education (Mr H G. R. Mason) with reference to territorial training of university students: “ In the case of those students whom the University College authorities are unable to credit with a pass at the end of September, arrangements will be made with the manpower committees whereby, on representation from the students concerned, territorial training will be postponed until after the November examinations. The position of university students in regard to overseas service, it may be added, is not a very urgent one at present as some little time must elapse before an overseas ballot is held.” Students who would desire (in the event of their not being recommended by the Professorial Board for a degree pass) to be exempted from territorial training till after the November examinations are urgently requested to send in their names immediately to the registrar of the University of Otago, stating the subjects in which they have applied to be examined for the degree this year.
